Hi there,
My wife is scheduled for FP today.I read in some other thread that we need to fill a form with our SSN.She'z having only ITIN #.Is it OK to fill ITIN # instead of SSN?? Experienced guys please suggest.

Yes. The petition will be like a regular change of employer H-1B petition. The lawyers will tell you what documents they need from you when filing the company's H-1B petition.

I am initiating this poll to find out priority date segments, as I could not found a poll for priority dates tracking.
I have divided priority dates in eights segments. From the eight segments, I have created three specific segments from Jan 2004 to June 2004, June 2004 to Dec 2004 and Jan 2005 to March 2005. The people in these segments are most likely to get their GC (If USCIS process in FIFO manner) as soon as the backlog with priority dates before 2003 is cleared. The first three months of 2005, Jan to March, when lots of people applied, just before a new PERM labor certification process was introduce. This will help separate the three months from the rest of the year 2005.
Please join me to track priority dates which is the key date for GC approval.

Please help me with online address change for CA DMV:
My current license expires in May 2010. I moved recently. If I change my address using CA-DMV�s online change of address process, Will I be able to renew my driver license online during renewal time (feb 2010)?
Whats the process for updating the address of the vehicle so that vehicle registration renewal (expected in Jan 2010) comes to the new address?

As per my knowledge, You will be out of status if you didn't your H1B approval.
So you should try alternative things, like moving on to F1 or H4 dependent Visa.
If you have EAD you should not worry at all.
About USCIS, sometimes it won't get updated. One of my cousin's H1B was canelled and compant got confirmation mail, But still his status shown as active from past 1 year. Make sure with your Employer (ABC/initial company who has your h1B upto Feb-2011) that they got letter from USCIS.

Hi everyone,
I have just received my H1-B, and I'm planning on a two week vacation back to my country.
I'm not on a good relationship with my company at the moment, and even if they granted my vacation, I'm afraid they might cancel my H1-B visa while I'm on a vacation overseas.
If they do, would I be not able to come back into US, or would they at least give me a few days to pack up my stuff?
Any advice and comments would be appreciated.

The DS-160 form will combine the previous forms DS-156 and DS-157 and 158. Hi - I am currently on H1B visa with 3 more years to go and visa stamped for next 3 years. I've got offer for Medical residency and they offer J1 only.
I am planning to change my status to J1 effective July 01 2009. Do I need to go India for visa stamping or any other procedure? Is just change of status okay?
Please help if you know anything related to this procedure.

is this true. My mother came back last year using AP but she never got a new I-94. He AP was stamped and the validity of her stay here. So not sure if you will get a I94 or not. please eloborate.

FP done in Nov 2007. Planning a trip to India in Dec 2008 to Jan 2009. What if I receive biometrics during this time? After 1 year of FP, I anticipate that there would be repeat Biometrics done.
Is there a way for us to request Biometrics early? I am going to renew EAD and AP 4 months before expiry (expire in Nov 2008). Will this take care of Biometrics renewal as well?

My H-1 was approved in 2004 by the Texas Service Center. According to the instructions for I-539, for change of status to H4, it says:
"If The principal’s petition and change of status request are approved, mail form I-539 to the same Service Center that approved the principal’s I-129 and change of status or extension application. Include a copy of the principal’s approval notice."

The article is interesting, but what is really striking is the tone of the comments to the online article. I have an H1B approval from USCIS, and I am trying to go to Canada for the initial visa stamping. But then i have a problem. I initially entered the country as a visitor, and married a citizen, but only after my I-94 had expired for about a week. (My petition is still pending. The company I am working for could not wait for my greencard, since its already been years since I started that process, so they went ahead and applied for the H1B visa for me). I heard that it is a problem to do the visa stamping in Canada if you have been out of status before. Is it advisable to go to Canada for the visa stamping?
