    Hi All,

I am planning to apply for PIO card for my son born in last month. I would like to send the documents to CGO Houston. Can you please suggest what are the documents should I send. I see the information in their website but looks confusing regarding orginals or copies.

    Thanks !
I received PIO for my son last week; here are the documents I sent.

    1) 2 Photos only, Yes just 2 not 4, there are several discussions about it but 2 worked for me.
    2) My passport photo copy (first and last 3 pages only )
    3) My wife's passport photo copy (first and last 3 pages only )
    4) My kid's US passport photo copy (first and last 3 pages only )
    5) My kid's birth certificate photo copy.
    6) Utility bill (electricity original)
    7) $185 cashiers check
    8) $20 bill
    9) Application form.

All the photo copy documents were notarized including birth certificate.
Thumb impression of my son on the application form (on first and second page).
    Parents singature.

And thats pretty much it ...got the PIO in 2 weeks. I did send email to check on the application after 1 week of applying, but there was no response from the SFO office.

    Hope this helps

    [[insert napoleon dynamite quote]]

I'm perplexed.... "You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills. "... or the one with him shouting at Tina the Llama to eat food?

In all seriousness, I haven't had time to celebrate or let it sink in. That'll come soon enough, after the events of last week have settled

I'm not going anywhere though. My battle may be over, but there's plenty of fight left in me :)

    Hello All:

It is great that the dates have become current and many of our friends here at IV can apply for 485. Congratualtions!!! to all that can apply.

I am in a dilemma and dont know what to do:

My LC has been approved PR 02/10/05
    My I-140 is pending.

I know I can file for 485 but my wife is on F1 OPT and is working she has applied for a H1 and will get it because of Masters quota but will not be effective till October, 2007. Can I file 485 now even though she is on F1?

I have two choices, either wait till October 2007 or cancel the H1 go to Mexico and get a H4 stamp for my wife and apply for 485. Please advise what I should do. Thanks!!!

I dont know about others but for me Fragomen has been very responsive. I think its probably your employer that is dictating how the attorney should deal with their employees. I work for a big fortune 50 company and I always got email responses from my fragomen attorney within 24 hours...that works for me.
Some times employers dont want their employees to get eads too soon, as they might jump the ship using ac21, and hence takes the help attorney to delay the filing, which works well for some attorneys too.

    my 2cents.

I think this guy is from numbers usa for sure. After writing all the BS, he asks it to take it in constructive way. There are lots of other way to express your concern if it had to taken in constructive way. This is definitely not the way.

Based on your comments I could see that you are a regular visitor (FREE RIDER ATTITUDE) to IV site for more than a year. We had several threads crying out for funds in very critical time senstive times. At those times you are a mere spectator and now just for posting this bashing post you reluctantly became a anonymous member. All these shows your LEADERSHIP skills and quality of leading the battle from FRONT. If I were in USCIS I would do a background check on these high qualities and ground breaking positive attitudes even before giving H1.

I think a change of leadership of IV is critical if we have to get anywhere. IV has not been able to achieve a single thing in all of its existence. Not a single thing, nada, zitto, zapata. Not disclosing the issues they are working on, not disclosing how the funds are distributed, not disclosing the lobbyist they are using. Who in the world calls that leadership!

That is the reason that no one wants to contribute. First get some results, show people results for what they have paid for. Then ask for more money. Most people I talk to are confident that IV will achieve nothing given their track record. I tried to convince a colleague to join IV. He bet with me that they will not be able to achieve even this filing I-485 issue. He bet that he will join and pay if they did.

I know IV works like dIVorced wIVes club and saying anything negative is taboo. Anyone saying anything negative is crushed with (p)curses. Only good mushy things are allowed here. So here it is: We will get our GCs by the end of the month. Hallelujah!

But I am writing this for the benefit of IV and please take this as constructively as you can. As a member, I have full right to suggest a change of leadership when I think it can help.

Democrats will hopefully move in the right direction.

    - Some uphappy soul is so frustrated after the result of the recent elections that it is posting trash on these forums. You know who it is ;) Take a deep breath buddy and let the reality sink in.

    - We are trying to teach you a lesson by not voting for you. lol :D yeah right.
    - These anti-immigrant proponents were predicting a status-quo in the house by defeating any pro-immigrant candidate.

You can't win both ways. It just shows weak logic and confused head.

Problems will not go away. Such incidents may happen elsewhere or in the same place.

If Air France was genuine they should have made everyone stay in the same place or atleast talk to theie department of immigration and arrange a temporary supervised visa and take all people to the hotel.

    They just did not care

Chanduv, I totally agree with you. I wanted to vent out my frustration and I did my part by writing to them. I wish those who agree must also write and let them know that they are not going to fly AF again. BTW, I am not going to fly AF even if the price of air ticket is competitive.

Shadegg Introduces ‘Skil Bill’ To Keep American Workforce Competitive
Rep. Shadegg – “We stand to potentially lose the next technological giants like Yahoo! or Google if we do not keep America’s workforce competitive.”

Washington, Jun 30 - As the United States works to maintain its economic competitive edge, U.S. Representative John Shadegg (R-AZ) introduced legislation yesterday to help retain the innovative minds of foreign-born nationals here in the United States.

“We have benefited greatly from the many foreign-born scientists, engineers, health care professionals, and teachers that help keep America moving forward,” said Shadegg, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. “To our detriment, current policy mandates that we educate and train these brilliant individuals and then send them away to other countries to compete against us.”

H.R. 5744, The Securing Knowledge, Innovation, and Leadership (SKIL) Act, addresses this growing problem by increasing the allotment of H-1B visas, returning to the prior, higher level of 115,000, with potential for future increases. The bill would also allow foreign nationals who graduate from U.S. universities to stay in America and contribute to our economy by joining the American workforce.

“Unfortunately, we are not graduating the number of Americans with advanced degrees in math and sciences that our high tech and medical industries need to compete. Until we can fix the problem of not having enough highly skilled American graduates, we need to pass the SKIL Bill.”

Shadegg went on to say, “We stand to potentially lose the next technological giants like Yahoo! or Google if we do not keep America’s workforce competitive. We must maintain our edge by providing opportunities to highly educated and skilled individuals interested in staying here in the U.S.”

In 2005, foreign nationals earned more than 40 percent of the master’s degrees and 60 percent of the doctorate degrees in engineering awarded by U.S. universities.

    http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/CISOmbudsman_RR_2_Streamlining_Employment_Based_Im migrant_Processing_USCIS_Response_04-27-06.pdf

"On April 27, 2004, the Ombudsman sent an information request to USCIS for a breakdown of data for pending employment-based applications for adjustment of status to be broken down by preference classification, priority date and country of chargeability. This request attempted to reflect similar data contained within the Immigration Annual Statistical Handbook, Chart 5, for completed cases. The Ombudsmans interest in pending employment-based workload is in part a reflection of the broader issue relating to USCIS ability to support the Department of State in accurately forecasting immigrant visa requirements and the visa issuance process."

"This update will enable USCIS to identify 100% of the pending employment-based visa cases. It is anticipated that this exercise will be completed by April 28, 2006. Once this exercise is complete, USCIS will be able to extract data relating to the priority date, country of chargeability and preference classification. USCIS has already entered into discussions with the Department of State to provide this detailed information not only for pending workload but for visa regressed cases as well to allow DOS to accurately manage future visa allocations in regressed workloads."

    [updated]
    http://www.aila.org/content/fileviewer.aspx?docid=22650&linkid=162315

so are we getting anything different from what the ombudsman has already requested (and received?)

Didn't we request for the same information, other than priority date stuff, that Ombudsman was looking for in 2006, does anybody know whether CIS provided him what he requested for?

Can't they reuse the same "program", as they call it, to provide us the info that we requested for? I would suggest to atleast include a reference to this Ombudsman's request in our reply letter.

I am in for contribution too.

You should be EB10 and not EB2! Some folks in this forum are really crazy!

There is no relationship between approval/duration of EAD and movement of PDs.

By the way, since India won all the previous encounters with Pak in world cups, India will win on Wednesday!

Most EB2's who are talking on this forum are idiotic, egostic and too much of themselves to think straight. Case in point Smugbee, SNathan and TonyHK. Since they don't have ead they want ead and thats all they care about. As long as they get to file 485 and get ead they dont care.

When an eb3 complains about waiting for GC he/she is a whiner and has to recognize the superiority of an EB2 getting GC before EB3 even if teh EB2 is 1 year in thsi country and EB3 has been waiting for 12 years.

When an eb2 complains about not having ead his concerns are valid and nothing else is more important on IV thean that

Absolutely right! Now line up the reds.. Oh, maybe you finished your quotas today, so let's wait till tomorrow

probably the best post i've seen on this board. good points....I did sometime back.

Given thanksgiving is barely a week away, we can be certain of the usual platitudes directed at immigrants - this is a good time to remind the average American how far they have strayed from their roots and forgotten the true sentiment behind the tradition. Immigrants have always been hated and reviled by those that got here earlier - but the current anti-immigrant sentiment is vastly different in scale and sophistry due to the times we live in. If every IV member signs up 10 citizens to the immigrant cause, we should easily be 100,000 strong in a couple of weeks. It could be anyone from your advisor at school who mentored you to your buddies at work - even the stinkin relatives should be harassed. Though CIS and Numbersusa pretend that they are a product of the current anti-illegal sentiment, they started out much before the so-called 'wave' started. And they have adapted and honed their strategies very well to crush whatever relief Congress contemplates/passes. Consider the way CIS was initially dedicated to 'researching' immigrant issues that they would complain about the media's positive stories about immigrant contributions as merely anecdotal evidence not worthy of rebuttal. Now they are suddenly fond of anecdotal evidence themselves since experts began demolishing their claims of job-stealing and other baseless charges convincingly(esp CFR's Sebastian Mallaby) using empirical evidence-they shamelessly stoop to use someone's sob story to make their case. So, as repugnant as their motives are, they are too transparent for their own good- and they can't cover their tracks -which is good for us since we are appealing to the fair minded. Remember - every one in the US is an immigrant or an offspring of one. They have always been hated and reviled -so if someone who benefited from the immigrant tradition of this nation wants to turn around and deny it to those following him/her even though their ancestors did the same thing at a great emotional/economic cost to the then existing natives- they have a higher bar in explaining why the current bunch shouldn't continue to benefit from the great tradition-merely being bigoted but sophisticated enough to hide it isn't enough. so don't lose heart but dont sit on your ass either.

    By Jerry Kammer
    COPLEY NEWS SERVICE

    3:42 p.m. June 19, 2007

WASHINGTON Carlsbad Rep. Brian Bilbray and other anti-amnesty House Republicans delivered a sharp warning Tuesday that compromise immigration legislation pending in the Senate faces raucous and determined opposition if it reaches the House.

The way you stop illegal immigration is not to start by announcing that you're going to reward illegal immigration, said Bilbray, chairman of the 107-member Immigration Reform Caucus.

The group, made up of 100 Republicans and seven Democrats, opposes the Senate and Bush administration proposal to legalize the nation's 12 million illegal immigrants as part of a broad package of immigration reforms.

The Senate recently debated and shelved the proposal but is moving toward a second round of debate. If the Senate passes it, attention then will shift to the House.

Last year, with Republicans controlling both sides of Capitol Hill, the House passed an enforcement-only bill while the Senate approved a sweeping legalization. With the two chambers moving in opposite directions, both bills died.

This year, Democrats control both the House and Senate. For that reason, it is unclear whether Bilbray and his largely Republican caucus would be able to defeat the legalization legislation again this year.

However, that didn't stop them from talking tough Tuesday in rejecting the latest gambit by proponents in the Senate to win over balky Republicans a promise to spend $4.4 billion on border enforcement.

Only in Washington would people believe that throwing money at the problem is going to solve it, said Bilbray. This is a blatant attempt by senators to extort votes so they can fast track an amnesty plan.

It's time to be resolute; it's time to show some backbone, and it's time to stop amnesty, said Peter King, R-N.Y., who added that he would soon introduce enforcement-only legislation that would require a crackdown both at the border and at the workplace.

Bilbray claimed that public outrage against the Senate bill has stunned many Democrats, making them wary of supporting the Senate approach.

The Senate could take up the immigration bill late this week, beginning votes on a series of amendments expected to be presented by Republicans and Democrats. A final vote on the measure could come as soon as next week.

Senate passage would send the bill to the House, where it would go through a subcommittee that includes several outspoken critics of legalization.

Tamar Jacoby of the conservative Manhattan Institute, a proponent of legalization, said the fight in the House, if it occurs, is going to be bitter. It's going to be hand-to-hand combat.

    01. If I-140 is revoked by the previous employer after invoking AC12, does the status of I-140 changes? Any LUDs?

    02. How long does it take to revoke an I-140 after the employer sends the withdrawal request?
